For almost 100 years, five common styles of caps have been used on Industrial Lead Acid Batteries. Cap-Off’s engineered design removes and retains all five types with this single, easy to use device.

The arduous task of removing battery caps is due to a tapered edge on the shaft of the battery cap, which pulls down when tightened against the rubber sealing gasket at the base of the cap. This creates a tight bond between the battery cap and the filling port at the top of each battery cell. Cap-Off’s tee handle design offers an effective ergonomic solution to this often strenuous task.

Each battery has anywhere from 3 to 40+ caps depending on the battery’s voltage. These caps must be removed after each time the battery is charged, in order to check and add any necessary water.

Historically, all caps are removed by hand or by using steel pliers which can damage the plastic caps and could potentially cause a dangerous situation.
